The past few days
have been interesting so I thought that I'd update those of you who
are interested in whats going on.
As you know, I moved into Graduate Student Housing on Saturday.
The move went well. I had ordered the stuff I didn't have available
to take with me (e.g. furniture) online from Sams Club, Walmart and
Amazon, and I got free shipping or $0.99 shipping on all of it! :D
So that was nice so that I don't have to worry about renting a truck,
borrowing a truck, or trying to cram things like mattresses into our
small little sedan. On the downside, it does mean that I don't have
all of my stuff yet. On the upside its like Christmas every day! :D
Things don't seem to have sunk in with the kids yet. Hopefully
they will adjust quickly and easily to this new arrangement. Jenny
had a good day with them yesterday until about 20 minutes before I
called her. Then the kids started accidentally spilling their dinner
and drinks all over the house. And William wiped his bloody nose on
the carpet. :)
Today it was my turn to have some fun. I've decided that I'll
bike to my office on campus on the days I'm not with Jenny and the
kids. It's only about 4 miles away. No problem! Well, that was the
thought anyway. (I made that decision because it would give me the
opportunity to concentrate better, get some regular exercise, and use
the internet (the free internet here at the apartment in painfully
slow.)) So this morning I hoped on my bike and started peddling. I
had looked up directions, but I got a little lost for a bit. And by a
little I mean really and by a bit I mean over an hour. Yeah, I
actually made it to the Barnes and Noble where Jenny likes to go to do
her homework before I realized that I was way off track. I had even
been going up and down streets with names like "Mountain Climb",
"Hillcrest", and "If you are biking on this road then you are a
moron." Okay, so I made that last one up, but the first two were
ligit. But, thanks to Jenny's help on the phone I was able to find a
bus stop and take that bus to another bus stop where I got on a
different bus that took me to campus. About an hour late for the
meeting that I was planning on being half an hour early to. :P Oh
well. Luckily, on the way home things went a lot better! In spite of
being very tired, I was able to make the trip back in about 30
minutes. So we'll see how it goes next time.
